Save Los Angeles Taco Trucks

Due to overwhelming support, we have had to expand the petition to a FOURTH page. Sign below and join the over 6000 other supporters!

Led by District 1 County Supervisor Gloria Molina, the L.A. Board of Supervisors has passed new restrictions that will effectively eliminate taco trucks from our streets. Under Supervisor Molina’s new rules, taco trucks will have to change location every hour, or face a misdemeanor charge carrying a $1000 fine and/or jail. Yes, jail.

Taco Trucks are a special facet of Los Angeles, and something we don’t want to lose. Though this ordinance currently affects just unincorporated parts of L.A., that’s 65% of the County. And of course it opens up the doors for legislation closer to home too.

Let’s send Gloria Molina and the L.A. Board of Supervisors a message that we cherish our local vendors and don’t want to see them move away. This new law needs to be repealed!

Click here to SIGN THE PETITION

An Open Letter to Gloria

Even if you don’t eat at Taco Trucks or know what it is, the petition should be signed.  It’s for a stupid law made by stupid people who pretend to be city officials looking to help the greater good.  These officials are basically turning an affordable business structure and turning those using it into criminals simply for staying parked in one spot for more than a hour.  There are far more important matters to look after than making it harder for people to make a honest living.

City officials shouldn’t get away with making stupid regulations like this one and this one should be put down.

Chinese Clash With Protesters at Torch Relay in Seoul

Chinese students studying in Korea jeered and clashed with South and North Korean protesters who were demanstrating for better human treatment towards North Korean refugess in China.

SEOUL, South Korea — Thousands of young Chinese assembled to defend their country’s troubled Olympic torch relay pushed through police lines on Sunday, some of them hurling rocks, bottled water and plastic and steel pipes at protesters demanding better treatment for North Korean refugees in China…

In other cities, the globe-trotting relay of the torch leading up to the Beijing Games in August has triggered protests against China’s crackdown on violent protests for independence in Tibet. In South Korea, one of the torch’s final stops before entering China, demonstrators focused on human rights for North Koreans who live in hiding in China after fleeing hunger in their homeland….

When lone protesters demanded that China stop repatriating North Korean refugees, they were quickly surrounded by jeering Chinese. Near the park, Chinese students surrounded and beat a small group of protesters, news reports said…

In another scuffle, at the city center where the five-hour torch run ended, Chinese surrounded several Tibetans and South Korean supporters who unfurled pro-Tibet banners, and kicked and punched them, witnesses said…

Although the torch run stirred little interest among South Koreans in general, thousands of North Korean defectors in the South and their supporters saw it as an opportunity to press Beijing to better protect North Korean refugees in China…

In recent years, thousands of North Koreans have fled across the loosely controlled Chinese border, rather than the heavily fortified border with South Korea. China sends back North Koreans it catches as illegal economic migrants, a policy condemned by rights groups. They face life-threatening punishment in labor camps once repatriated, according to rights groups…

Many placards Chinese waved on Sunday in Seoul criticized the Dalai Lama, the Tibetan spiritual leader whom China accuses of instigating violence.

“Tibet is part of China forever,” one said. (full article)

It’s rather funny how similiar China and USA are and people don’t even realize it. When someone speaks out against the government in the USA…people are labelled as unpatriotic. If a Chinese person speaks out against the Chinese government, they are called a traitor. Both countries have certain groups who’ll act violently towards individuals with a different political view. Chinese people say the western media distorts the truth and the Chinese government openly censors it.

Western media doesn’t need to villify China when certain groups of Chinese people already do it themselves. So it’s one thing to protest and be supportive of Tibet being part of China (because I don’t give a crap)…but when you jeer at and beat up those protesting for better treatment of North Korean refugees…then f*ck you.

Get the hell out of Korea.

Indicted Banker’s Desperate Murder-Suicide

F*cking piece of $hit, if you’re going to commit suicide…blow your own damn head off.

A desperate Iowa banker facing federal embezzlement and money laundering charges murdered his wife and four young children in their home before killing himself yesterday by slamming the family minivan into a concrete highway abutment, Iowa City police announced Tuesday evening.

Steven Sueppel, 42, who was accused of stealing more than a half million dollars, left apologetic messages for his former employer, brother and father, as well as on his own family’s answering machine late Sunday night and early Monday morning. He used the same phone from which he called police to direct them to his Iowa City home just minutes before crashing the family’s minivan, police said at a Tuesday press conference.

Inside the Sueppel home, police discovered five bodies scattered throughout the residence, including Sueppel’s wife, Sheryl, and their four adopted children, Ethan, 10; Seth, 7; Mirra, 5; and Eleanor, 3.

Police released preliminary autopsy results this morning finding that all five Sueppel family members died from “multiple blunt force trauma injuries to each of their upper torsos and heads,” according to a statement.

Lt. Jim Steffen, an Iowa City investigator, said Tuesday that Sheryl Sueppel likely was killed first. Police recovered two baseball bats from the crime scene. (ABC NEWS)

Steven Sueppel should not go to hell after he gets the chair….he should go to hell alive. It’s a good thing that he failed trying to commit suicide because if he has any humanity left inside him, his guilty conscious will film his disgusting crime in his head over and over again..(Retraction: he did succeed in killing himself.  I need to pay more attention….but if he did survive…..etc etc)

I actually think capital punishment should be a zoo for monsters. Keep each murderer, rapist, disgruntled student with a rifle, and child killer locked up in cages with kiosks explaining what kind of monster they are. Then the only food they’ll receive are from those pellet machines you see at petting zoos that cost 25 cents a handful. Since there will be a gap between the visitors and the monster, people sweet enough to care, will have to throw the food at them. The death penality is not enough for people like him…if they want to act like animals, treat them like one.

Actually, give me a bat and 5 minutes with him…and I’ll make sure he’ll still be alive enough to lick his wounds and play over and over again in his head…the beating from his dead family’s eyes.

Rant: Asians that I can’t stand…

are those who call fellow Asian-American females “sell-outs” simply because they live their lives the way they want to.

February 25, 2008 @ 11:43 pm

Sorry but shes not korean anymore!!! Shes dating a non korean and as a korean male I am very upset. I would like to kill this sellout if I ever saw her in real life and set example to other korean women who choose to date out! What…Korean men not good enough?

This is a comment left on Kineda’s blog and it’s fan boy admiration for Yuri Tag.

It’s like you can’t escape these type of idiots. There’s always that one disgruntled guy in a group who masks his immaturity and low self-esteem with Asian Pride and social discourse. As a Korean male, I think people like him are the biggest morons in the Asian American community. No Asian American female is obligated to date a fellow Asian male just so they can feel a sense of normalcy. This is America, land of the free and where one’s personal life doesn’t have strangers controlling it.

I also hate how some Asian American males complain about non-Asians “taking our women.” Yeah, because women are really things of property to stake claim on. The last thing I want representing my Asian pride is by a bunch of whining yellow babies who’d rather complain than go out and date whomever they want. Instead of worrying about the lives of many, whom have no relationship with them to begin with….they should stop crying and actually find the ONE woman who’ll tolerate their idiocy.

As for those who want to keep the Asian blood pure in the community, they are already speaking English 99.9% of the time and live in America. They’ve already “sold out.”

Okay, I’m done. Go Kaba Modern.

N.K. Vice President Roh Moo-hyun, deserves a beating…

Deadly police shooting in O.C. angers Korean Americans.

By H.G. Reza
Los Angeles Times Staff Writer

February 11, 2008

On New Year’s Eve, La Habra police shot and killed Michael Cho in a strip mall parking lot when he allegedly threatened officers with a tire iron.

The killing of the UCLA graduate and artist has set off criticism of police not heard in Southern California’s Korean American community since the 1992 Los Angeles riots, when shop owners complained that officers never showed up to stop looters, and they picked up guns to defend their stores

This time, community leaders say La Habra police were too quick on the trigger when responding to a vandalism call.

“We haven’t seen this expression of shock, disbelief and sadness in the community before,” said Richard Choi Bertsch, of the Orange County Korean American Coalition. “All of the first-generation parents are saying, ‘This could’ve been my kid.’ ” Charles Kim, a La Habra resident and past national president of the Korean American Coalition, said that “the community’s mind is pretty much set that the police overreacted.”…

The cops shot him 10 freaking times.

Three hours after the shooting, police went to Cho’s parents’ home, saying they had received a vandalism report and inquired about their son, said Sung Man Cho, a painting contractor.

They did not tell him that Michael Cho was dead, he said.

3 hours after the shooting is enough time to inform any cop delivering the message about their son’s death.

In 2005, after graduating from UCLA, Cho went to South Korea to study traditional Korean ceramic art, his mother said.

He was also active in his church, where he taught art to disabled children.Cho planned to apply to Yale University’s master’s program in art and become a college professor. ((Hgreza@latimes.com)

Completely unacceptable. How do you shoot a person 10 times and then report his death after citing him for vandalism? You know the cops screwed up when they they didn’t report his death to his parents and instead told them it was a matter of vandalism….3 hours after the shooting. It if was a matter of vandalism…the guy is 25 years old, he doesn’t need to have his parents be told that. That’s what “one phone calls” are for. It seems more like they were looking to give his parents a prelude as to why he was killed before the news got out. Something just isn’t right about the whole story…….and I’m guessing the cops did an ultimate f*ck up.

The cops may very well get off. The last time an Orange County cop has been prosecuted for a wrongful shooting was back in the 1980’s. We don’t even know who the cops are that did the shooting because their officials are protecting them.

Whether or not Cho did come at the cops with a crowbar is no excuse to shoot him 10 times, especially when you’re a trained protector of the people. There are other options to subdue a person. Either the cops who shot him are inexperienced rookies with nerves of crap or they were just looking to kill something. Regardless, they could have easily ta-zed him or do something else rather than kill him.

I know there are cops out there who serve the people well but there are plenty of others who are nothing more than gang-bangers with badges. Stupid Ass OC cops…burning bridges.

Where as Korea discriminates it’s foreigners…

China’s ugly side takes it to a whole new level of playing dirty.

In China, it is not uncommon for people to resort to rough justice rather than wait for the ponderous progress of the law. In 2007, the president of an affiliate of Samsung Electronics in Weihai, Shandong was attacked by two men in the restroom of a Japanese restaurant. He had his hand cut off when he resisted. After the incident, Samsung Electronics strongly protested to the local government, which led to a police investigation. It turned out that the mastermind of the attack was a former company cafeteria contractor, whose service had been rejected by the company due to low quality of the food. The contractor had hired thugs in northeastern China to retaliate…

Organized gangs extort money from small Korean businesses such as restaurants, saunas and beauty parlors, as well as bigger enterprises. A South Korean businessman, who runs a restaurant in Qingyang District, Qingdao said, “Members of Haksewui or organized gangs extort a certain amount of money from us every month. They often come and eat without paying. It’s much more difficult to do business here than in Korea.”Blackmail is common.

Late last year, a 42-year-old South Korean owner of a food factory in Pingdao killed himself because he had been unable to withstand threats and harrassment by local residents, who demanded a toll for the road leading to the main gate of the factory.(chosun)

And it’s not just foreigners who get their hands chopped off.

Lu Ling, the general manager of the China Construction Fifth Engineering Bureau Nanjing company, has been sacked along with Li Zhenghui, the deputy production manager of the company and Zhao Guohua, the project manager. Zhao’s certification in project management has also been revoked, according to Yangtze Evening Newspaper.

The China Construction Fifth Engineering Bureau will be driven out of Nanjing, the city’s government announced at a press conference on Monday.

Wang Chao, a Sichuan Province migrant worker and also one of the foremen of the company, went to the project department on January 16 with another worker, He Lin, to check on another foreman, He Chenbo, who had been detained by the company when asking for unpaid wages on behalf of 2,000 migrant workers.

They were chased by a group of gangsters with swords and spears as soon as they appeared, a previous report said, citing He Lin.

One of the gangsters chopped off Wang’s left hand with a sword after he saw Wang taking out his mobile phone, according to He Lin, who ran faster than Wang and was not wounded. (shanghaidaily)

At least in Korea, rotten employers have their victims get deported. Not even China’s market of executing criminals for profit seems to put enough fear into those looking to harm others.

The Olympics in China should be fun especially with the great air quality there.

Icheon Blaze Warehouse

And a douchebag award goes to…..South Korea’s lack of empathy towards a Foreigner’s well-being.

200801090003.jpg

In the wake of a blaze in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province that claimed 40 lives, it was discovered that the basement floor of the warehouse where the fire broke out had no ventilation…

Fire investigators believe vapors from paint thinner, left over after the urethane foaming was sprayed, had lingered inside the storage area and were ignited by an electrical spark. The fact that the facility was engulfed in flames right after the explosion seems to indicate it was filled with flammable vapors.

Over 50 workers toiling inside an enclosed area filled with flammable vapors is an extremely hazardous situation. Paint thinner vapors are highly flammable and can easily ignite by just a tiny spark caused by metal tools hitting each other. Many LPG canisters were reportedly inside the area as well. The workers had been working while their lives were at risk. These are primitive and ignorant conditions. Valuable lives have been lost due to a lack of safety awareness on the part of their employers and supervisors. (chosun)

The disaster raised concerns about the poor working environments for foreign workers, especially ethnic Koreans from China. Paik Soo-bin, a Chinese language lecturer at Hanseo University who lost her cousin in the fire, said, “Korean-Chinese workers are doing all dangerous jobs. We’re treated as compatriots only in words, but we’re looked down upon in reality. How can you do this to us? They should have provided the workers with minimum safety equipment…”

Compensations for the victims will also be difficult to find. The entire building was insured against damage for W15.3 billion (US$1=W941) at LIG Insurance. The problem is, this insurance only applies to the building and goods stored in the warehouse but not the victims. An LIG Insurance official said, “As they were not insured, humans are not subject to compensations. We’ll pay compensation in due process for the destroyed building and damaged machinery and equipment inside it…”

The surviving families of the dead can receive either lump-sum payments of 1,300 days’ wages for the dead or monthly annuities of 52 to 67 percent of the average monthly pay of the deceased. The injured will get 70 percent of their daily average wage in allowance while in treatment, and can also get disability compensation depending on the degree of disability. (chosun)

Compensation is one thing, demanding a complete overhaul of Korea’s attitude and practises towards foreigners, is a must. You can see so many examples of how cruel the common people can be without any real ill will towards foreigners in the news.

Why should I care since I don’t live in Korea? It’s because I’m Korean and each story just makes Korea look ugly and incompetent.

When you have guests in your house, you want to make them feel like as if they are at home, despite being culturally different. You want them to have good memories and even if it’s just for business, they should leave feeling like they were taken care of. That is the right way Korea should handle foreigners. That’s how everyone should be treated.

I’m sure the majority of Koreans are all around good people, but it’s the douchebag who hog up all the spotlight with their stupidity and neglect…and this time, it took the lives of over 40 people and disfigured many more.

District Court judge Sarah Bradley is a douche

This story is about a week old…but still timely. I’m still waiting on some sort of update and social justice towards District Court judge Sarah Bradley.

Judge condemned over Aborigine child rape case

A judge in Australia was facing calls to step down today after she failed to jail a group of nine males who admitted gang-raping a 10-year-old girl in an Aboriginal community, saying the young victim “probably agreed” to have sex with them.

Instead of jailing the three adults, aged 17 to 26, one of whom was a repeat sex offender, and giving custodial sentences to the six juveniles aged 14 to 16, Queensland District Court judge Sarah Bradley handed out suspended sentences and probation orders. (Guardian Unlimited)

Yeah, because a 10 year old’s mind really understand what sex is and would really agree to have “it” with 9 boys. Are you freaking kidding me? How do such stupid people get these positions?

When sentencing the juveniles, Justice Bradley said: “All of you have pleaded guilty to having sex with a 10-year-old girl and (one of the juveniles) has pleaded guilty to having sex with another young girl as well.

“All of you have to understand that you cannot have sex with a girl under 16.

“If you do, you are breaking the law, and if you are found out, then you will be brought to court and could end up in jail.

“I accept that the girl involved, with respect to all of these matters, was not forced, and that she probably agreed to have sex with all of you.

“But you were taking advantage of a 10-year-old girl and she needs to be protected, and the girls generally in this community need to be protected.

“This is a very serious matter.

“It is a very shameful matter and I hope that all of you realise that you must not have sex with young girls.

“Anyone under 16 is too young.

“Some of you are still children yourselves.

“Others of you are adults but I am treating you all equally in terms of the behaviour.

“I am not treating any of you as the ringleader or anything like that.”

She asked each prisoner to stand up and said she hoped they would realise it was wrong to have sex with young girls.

Justice Bradley then offered them probation and when each agreed to accept that, she said she would not record a conviction.

To one of the juveniles, she said: “You are still a child. You have pleaded guilty to one offence of rape.

“You have been in a lot of trouble in the past, though, and you still have some community service to do.

“You have not been doing that well. I am prepared to offer you probation but you have got to stick with the rules of probation.”

The juvenile agreed and was then placed on 12 months’ probation, with no conviction recorded.(article)

What kind of judge even says “probably?” The child is a sexual abuse victim when she was 7 years of age, you don’t think she’s a bit screwed up in the head? There is no concensual sex, there’s only people taking advantage of a child who has no idea what she’s doing. Therefore it is rape.

Judge Sarah Bradley…go to hell, along with the offenders and may you all enjoy a room together…you douchebags.
