Basic Vocab – Likeness

Match One’s Skill Vol.2 highlight

Bboy Pocket at 2:09 & 3:00…is quite the wonder kid…and he’s only 13/14 years old now.

BoA in America

So, Boa…the international Korean popstar is doing pretty well in America.   However, from what I’ve seen…Boa is about to burn out and from what I heard, she’s feeling less passionate about wanting to stay in the entertainment business all together.   Boa needs a sabbatical and SM better let her have one or else she’ll be done altogether.  The last thing I want to see her do is break down not only physically…but mentally as well.    Plus, she hasn’t evolved into a real artist yet,  especially when she has American producers making her sound like Britney.  She needs time off to either decide if she really wants to continue performing as an entertainer or gather what she learned and create her own music, concepts, and image.

I do respect Boa, especially her story of entering the Japanese music scene and showing off what South Korea has to offer.  It’s a great story and I enjoy her witty bubbly personality on Japanese talk shows…but I don’t see that at all in America.    And with her managing group censoring questions during interviews, she seems to be less herself and honest…and that’s not good at all.   While I do consider her professionalism of being constantly pleasant to be the same “good manners” our parents taught us to uphold, she’s being too controlled.   If I got a nickle for each time Boa answered a question about who she would want to work with…I could buy her a Justin Timberlake concert ticket.

While I don’t know how she really thinks or feels, from what I witnessed….she needs a long vacation.   She looks tired and unhappy…or maybe it’s just the constant jetlag.

BBoy AL…one

Reminds me of a crazier version of Hong 10….but considering they both came from Expression Crew, they would have similarities.  The guy just has crazy flow.

Perez Hilton vs. Miss California

Just to comment on Miss California vs. Perez….between them, the round went to Miss Cali.   Carrie Prejean, Miss California…is entitled to her opinion and while she could have phrased it better, she was at least honest.  As for Perez Hilton….he could have definitely worded his question better.

For example…”throughout American history, there has always been a form of discrimination.  People with different ethnic background weren’t allowed to eat in the same restaurant or even marry each other.  Do you think same-sex marriage is the next group of people who will surpass that discrimination now that Vermont passed a ruling in favor of them?”

Kind of long…but with the keyword “discrimination” being in there…I think Miss San Diego…would at least have to think about it a few seconds harder.  In the meanwhile, Perez…suck it up and move on and  Carrie Prejean…just say you’re for discrimination.

Boston Legal on Torture

Alan Shore: The truth is, as Americans we love torture. We keep it to ourselves of course. But come on, when it comes to evildoers? Torture’s okay. Hollywood certainly knows that. Dirty Harry. Boom. Charles Bronson in Death Wish. Denzel Washington in Man on Fire. Heroes torturing the bad guys. In theaters all across the country we cheered. We like torture! Is there potential for abuse? Without question. The events at Abu Ghraib prison were deplorable. But do we really think they happened in a vacuum? Alberto Gonzalez, our Attorney General, wrote a memo to the administration saying torture’s okay. Our Supreme Court just recently held that evidence gained from torture can be used in trials. Alan Dershowitz, one of the leading civil rights activists in our country, raised the idea of using torture warrants so as to at least to be more open about it. Torture warrants. Love that torture. Shhhh. Mr. Preston talks about the witness here being an innocent man. Now come on. He wasn’t that innocent. He did harbor a fugitive. One who kidnaps and kills children. He did have information that ultimately led to the rescue of the child here. And he refused to give it up until he was… coerced. As for my client being above the law? Well, the law in this country has always been subject to evolving community standards of humanity. So the twelve of you get to go back there, as a community, and asks yourselves “Was this a good thing or not?” He’s happy. He’s alive. They’re sure as hell happy. My client saved a life! That little boy’s life. If it were your child wouldn’t you want the police to do whatever was necessary? This officer got the job done using a method that our government, our military, our attorney general and, yes, even our Supreme Court has said is sometimes okay. Sometimes. Depending on the situation. Torture’s okay. Just don’t tell anybody. - Boston Legal “Tortured Souls” – An episode when a cop went above the law and tortured a suspect’s brother  for information.

And…. Jack Bauer would probably give Alan Shore a thumbs up.   In the real world, I don’t agree with torture but if the world is pushed to the edge with no other alternative, I can’t say anyone is above it…especially if it involves people we care about.   It is a gray area…But maybe instead of torture that’s painful….the CIA should just dope up the detained terrorists with ecstasy, some form of truth serum, vodka, and glow sticks…..
