EDC 2008

video: tranceaddict626

I went to Electric Daisy Carnival last Saturday…and I wish I could say I had a blast. I started off all hyped up but I got there sober as a nun at a Sunday school and ended up leaving feeling older than Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon 3. Initially, I did not want to go because I thought I outgrew it….but I had a night when I went drinking with some friends and came home overly buzzed….and when I’m buzzed, my spending habits become less rational. so far, I’ve bought a $1500 digital camera & my first Ipod thanks to liquid inhibition. I ended up buying 3 tickets for my kinky sidekick, her mistress of Ktown, and I…for that Woodstock of Raves.

When we got there at 8 something, the event was an unorganized mess. The line to the entrance was just one big cattle herd pushed together in a tiny ass barn despite being outdoors. My friends and I were stuck in it, belly to belly with other pieces of meat for a whole hour. There was so much body heat illuminating that everyone was turning into a sweaty compost dump of flesh. To say the least, it really killed my mood….

I was spent and when I looked around already jaded, all I could see were little kids dressed up in scantily clothes with even younger children hopped up on E. That was when I really felt old…more so than when we went into the LA coliseum football stadium to watch our favorite headliners of trance, Paul Van Dyk & Christopher Lawrence. Kids in there were making out with each other and giving each other lap dances. It was very uncomfortable….I guess I was just too sober for my own good. It’s funny though, you see a pattern with couples on E who are rolling together. They first start dancing like crazy….sit down in a sleepy trance and then all of sudden spring wide awake just to make out like bunnies in heat. After a few minutes of saliva transfer and groping, they’d pop back into reality, get up, and walk away from their audience. I had to hide behind my cousin just so I could block a few views….

DJ Paul Van Dyk was really good though, especially his signature anthems…and the production, carnival rides, light shows, and videos were amazing. The main dance area was exactly like that scene in Matrix Reloaded…when you saw thousands of people jump up and down like the ocean. It was definitely a sight to see…but by the end of the day, it was a complete waste of money and like Danny Glover said after getting his ass kicked by Jet Li in Lethal Weapon 4, “I’m too old for this $hit.”

One more thing….The thing I really hate about raves…is the flyers….I do like to study them and grade the level of difficulty and creativity, but seeing them all over the floor by the thousands is like seeing the aftermath of rainforest being bulldozed. For an event that promotes PLUR…you’d think ecology would also be up there….maybe hemp paper?

When I have $15,000…

to spend on an inanimate objects…I’m going to buy an original Audrey Kawasaki painting.  Nevermind her posters that get sold out at $120-$180 a pop…I want an original!  However, I want a Giant Robot Rocket Punch theme on a skateboard with the same wooden grooves and as a set of 3. (Price of a BMW)  Actually, I’d settle for a poster but even that stuff is hard to get.

Jinjo Crew vs Rivers 2008 Cyon Tourni…

T.I.P. maybe known as a crew that perfects Teamwork…but I prefer Jinjo’s Crew with Bboys Wing and Skim.  They are just more entertaining.

Expression Crew with black lights…

Add some MDMA, shrooms, and a pacifier and you could have yourself a trip like Seth Rogan in Knocked Up when he took shrooms before watching the Cirque du Soleil in Vegas. Just kidding, drugs are bad for you….but this performance isn’t with this OG Crew…

MICHELLE Project UPDATE – June 21st Deadline

//projectmichelle.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/michelle.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

When Michelle initially relapsed on May 7 she immediately started chemotherapy to temporarily ward off her cancer. We knew a bone marrow transplant was her only chance at long term survival, but also knew she didn’t have a donor match. We hoped six weeks would give us enough time to find a match while also preventing her from having to undergo more chemotherapy, but unfortunately June 21st has quickly come upon us and we’re still searching.

Michelle will be starting another round of chemo in the coming weeks to make sure her leukemia stays in remission. In the meanwhile, I plea for all of you to keep up your amazing efforts. The more people we get registered during the next month, the more we improve Michelle’s odds of starting the bone marrow transplant process without unnecessary chemotherapy. Each additional round of chemo that Michelle is put through deteriorates her health and increases the chances of her leukemia growing stronger and more immune to treatment.

Thank you for continuing to fight for Michelle, we need all of the support possible as we continue the search!

in South Korea…doing…..exactly what I learned to do in South Korea…..DRINK!

South Korea

The hectic, vibrant streets of Seoul are teeming with spectacular delicacies and intense intoxicants such as Soju, a tapioca, sweet potatoes and rice based alcohol; the average Korean puts away nearly two bottles of it a day. This strong, clear libation is best served up with the grilled meats and assorted side dishes that comprise the massive Korean barbeque feast. Downtown Seoul welcomes the Soju enthusiast with its strip of outdoor watering holes, where drinking, drinking games and drinking songs are the order of the evening. Seoul dwellers cleanse away the night’s excess with a steaming bowl of spicy soup, and you’re wise to follow their lead. (Three Sheets)
